our inauguration moment...
as i was getting asher ready for school. i was overcome with emotion of what this day held for our country, for our people, for our children. i began to tell asher as i was getting his pants on that today we would be inducting the first african-american man as president of our country. then i pulled his sweater over his head and told him that because of this man becoming our president, the dreams of every child, literally every child, can be realized. sliding his feet into his socks, i told him he could be whatever he wanted. slipping on his tsinilas and giving him a huge hug and big kiss, i whispered i loved him with tears welling up...he turned wiggled out of my hold and said "yah" and ran away to climb up on the rubbermaid bin down the hall. ah...our inaugural moment.
